Are you thinking of updating your current site by converting to WordPress?

If you have an older site with high page ranking changing your page names well have at least a short term effect on search engine ranking. If your pages are pure html converting to a WordPress theme is going to change your page names.

By using a re-direct we can minimize any issues.  Basically anyone (including Google) who has linked to your specific pages, can be re-directed to the new page. You should still spend some time updating everyone with your new pages but at least you will not have broken links.

If you have recently upgraded to a WordPress site or if you’re planning to make the switch, ask to have two plug-ins installed.

Broken Link Checker This will comb your site and find any broken links.
Eggplant 301 Redirects This will redirect any old/removed address to the correct address on your site.

Thanks.
